Sherri is an experienced estate planning, probate, trust law and guardianship attorney admitted in Florida who counsels families and individuals in designing customized estate plans to meet client goals for asset transfer and protection, benefit protection and qualification, protection of impaired beneficiaries, charitable gift planning and estate tax minimization.
Services provided also include representation of estate and trust fiduciaries and beneficiaries regarding potential breaches of fiduciary duties, trust interpretation and enforcement, and litigation to protect beneficial interests in assets and positions, and representation of parties in the filing and defense of guardianship actions.

Dain C. Akin relocated from Westerville, Ohio to DeLand in 2017 and joined his wife Sherri Akin as a member of Akin Law P.A. Dain graduated from Miami University (Ohio) in 1974 and Ohio Northern
University Pettit College of Law in 1978, and received his Master of Laws in Taxation (LLM Tax) from The University of Florida in 1990. He is admitted to practice law in Ohio (1978) and Florida (1991), and is
also admitted to practice before various federal courts, including the United States Tax Court.
Dain brings to DeLand his extensive expertise of representing public and private companies, high net-worth individuals, and non-profit organizations as a CPA with the Cleveland, Ohio office of Ernst & Whinney (now E & Y), in-house General Counsel, and as a private practice attorney.
In these capacities, he advised clients regarding federal, multi-state and local income tax return preparation and planning, business gift and succession planning, and tax controversy strategy (income, sales, use, gift, estate tax).
He also served as general counsel to a GMAC subsidiary, where his expertise focused on partnership tax, syndication of multi-family housing communities, low-income housing tax credit qualification, and multi-tier financing.
At Akin Law, Dain applies these many experiences to represent individual and business clients in the
